BP

Posted in Things at 1:57 pm by bsdman

You know what grinds my gears? It’s BP.

I'm surprised that they even acknowledged there was an issue. I heard everything from "oh it's only a few barrels a day" to "oh my God our children will never know what Gulf Of Mexico shrimp tastes like!" and everything between.

Then the people that wanted to fix it:

Let's try to clamp it using the clamps that weren't designed for this
Let's just wait it out
Let's put chemicals in the water to "eat" the oil
Let's put garbage in the hole
Let's put golf balls in the hole
Let's employ the fishermen who's lives we have ruined to help clean the top of the ocean
Let's cut the pipe and fit a cover on it and hope when we close the vents it doesn't push out
Let's just wait until two other wells are built to relieve the pressure

Argh.

And that's what grinds my gears.

Packaging

You know what grinds my gears? It’s packaging.

People have lost the ability to think. I received a package from amazon.com that went like this:
Bottom of box sealed with tape
CD
CD #2
Bubble wrap
Top of box sealed with tape

jiffy-large-bubble-wrap

Needless to say, the bottom CD case was completely smashed in. Wouldn’t you think to wrap the bubble WRAP around the product? I mean, it IS called bubble wrap and not bubble cover. Fuckers.

Or how about those plastic blister packs? You need a knife as sharp as a surgical blade just to open them. And once they’re open (or during the opening phase) watch out! You may cut your fingers/leg/other exposed limbs. Why use this fucking awesome technology? Because they want to make it difficult for people to steal their products in the store. Guess what assholes, I already purchased your shitty product and now you’re making me pay for it again. Awesome.
