People That Are Ignorant With Computers

You know what Grinds My Gears? People that are ignorant with computers. Ok, I should really change that around a bit: people that are ignorant with computers and don’t know they are. Sure, I work in an IT field at a computer company, but still. People that tell me they need something are in for a debate that only I can win. “I need more RAM, my system is slow”. That’s by far my favorite. Or “I didn’t know that things would change around when I got a new system”. Oh man, clever! This is pure gold!

I’m not good with Math, so I don’t pretend to be. I don’t go up to a Math professor and tell them how to do their job. I also don’t go up to a CCIE and tell them how to setup port trunking on a router. As a final note, I don’t go up to an auto mechanic and mention my flam-shooter axis module is running lean. It just doesn’t make sense! So if you’re bad with computers, either a) learn more about them or b) rely on those who already know more about them to guide you. And that’s what grinds my gears.

Turn Signals

Here is the first post I’m writing.

You know what grinds my gears? People who refuse to use their turn signals while driving. I mean, come on people – it’s not that difficult to move your hand the required 3 inches and switch on a turn signal. The car even turns it off for you once you’ve completed your turn. It’s just that easy. Not only is it a legal requirement to use your turn signal when changing lanes or turning, it’s just common courtesy. I can’t count how many times I’ve been following someone only to see them hit their brakes, slow down, and meander into a turn. What the hell. Honestly, I should start slamming into people when they do that. A little etiquette would be nice. And that’s what grinds my gears.
